- Make sure all rooms have adequate ventilation to help keep humidity in the air low. Dehumidifiers and extra fans help with this greatly.
- After doing any sort of cleaning it is always advised to dry the areas thoroughly with fans, a dehumidifier, or by increasing air flow by opening windows and doors. (Note: opening windows and doors may not be the best course of action for people living in humid climates.)
- Some surfaces and materials are extremely difficult to clean and treat for Mold and should be discarded. Some examples include: drywall, sheetrock, wall board, paper, insulation, carpet, ect. Extremely porous materials can not be rid of mold and should be discarded.
- Caution is advised when using products other than MoldAvenger as many will harm the surfaces you are cleaning and product toxic fumes that may be harmful if inhaled.
Interior Cleaning Tips
- When cleaning mold interior it is always advised to use a soft or stiff bristle brush to agitate the surface of the mold. A toothbrush or broom can be very effective household items for this. Washcloths and other brushes can also work quite well depending on the surface that is being cleaned. Wash cloths or wet towels work best to remove MoldAvenger from the treated surfaces.
- MoldAvenger can be left onto surfaces for longer than the recommended dwell time without harming the surfaces it is on. This, as with reapplication of the product and agitation, can help with the removal of difficult stains. The product should be removed eventually by rinsing or wiping down the surfaces with wet towels.
Common Problem areas
- Bathrooms- if mold is a common occurrence in your bathroom the most likely culprit is high levels of moisture. Consider installing additional exhaust fans or leave a door or window open when using the shower. Increased air flow will help reduce the amount of moisture in the air and on surfaces where mold will grow.
- Attics, crawl spaces, and basements- These 3 areas are usually very similar in both cause of mold growth and process to remove it. The cause is usually low air flow and high humidity. Installing fans or dehumidifiers is always a good idea in these areas. If there is no way to reduce the moisture in these areas the next best thing is to take away the food source for the Mold by using MoldAvenger.
(Note: A professional mold expert should be consulted in cases of extreme mold growth or when potentially toxic forms of mold have been found.)
